I love books on sale so I usually go to SM to buy at Booksale. The books sold there are used so it’s way cheaper than the new books. The cost of the following books is below 50 PHP each. However, the books are loosely categorized so it’s hard for me to find the book that I want. Aside from that, the books are just randomly placed so I have to rearrange the books for me to skim the contents. That’s why I usually spend a long time at the bookstore searching for the book that I want. After perusing hundreds of books, I found these books interesting and informative:
1. Title: The Happiest Baby on the Block
The New Way to Calm Crying and Help Your Baby Sleep Longer

Year Published: 2002
The book contains the author’s concept on how to calm or soothe babies by re-creating the womblike atmosphere of the newborn. I think his ways are interesting and it also makes sense. I like the tips and tricks he included for the baby to sleep more at night. It also included experiences from other mothers.
2. Title: Your Baby’s First Year

This book contains detailed information on infant care. The book starts with ways on how to prepare for a new baby and ends with the effects of the environment on the baby. It also contains tips for pregnant mothers on how to get the best prenatal care. I like the growth, behavior, and development milestones that they included in this guide.
3. Title: The New Contented Little Baby Book
The Secret to Calm and Confident Parenting
Author: Gina Ford
Year Published: 2006
The book contains specific routines developed by the author that will make the baby sleep through the night from an early age. I like that she included answers to some frequently asked questions (FAQs) from parents who are trying her method.
4. Title: The Nursing Mother’s Companion
Fourth Revised Edition
Author: Kathleen Huggins
Year Published: 1999
This book contains the importance of breastfeeding and information about breastfeeding such as caring for your breasts and nipple preparation. She also wrote guides on how to survive breastfeeding during the first week, the first two months, months two through six, and the later months. I like that she didn’t just focus on the caring of the baby. She also included caring for the mother.
5. Title: The Girlfriends’ Guide to Pregnancy
Or Everything Your Doctor Won’t Tell You
Author: Vicki Iovine
Year Published: 1995
This book contains a practical guide on what to expect when you’re pregnant including the physical changes in your body and the emotional changes as well. I like how she wrote humorously especially in dealing with embarrassing or awkward topics.
